Humanities and Science

The Department started with the very inception of Golden valley integrated campus in the year 2009-2010. This department imparts knowledge in Basic Science like Physics and Chemistry and lays a solid foundation with course in Engineering Mathematics, Language and Communication Skills. Ample opportunities are also provided for the students to hone their social skills by involving them in various activities. Both the students and staff are encouraged to take part actively to present papers in National and International Conferences. It has committed, excellent faculty which is one of the core competence of the institution.

VISION

To provide quality technical education affordable to all especially to the weaker sections of society and to prepare the students of today with Knowledge, Skill, Competency and Moral and Ethical values for the technological world of tomorrow.

MISSION

At Humanities and Science Department, We

  • Increasing overall performance % every year by 10%.
  • Motivating at least 5 bright students to get University rank.
  • Motivating at least 20 students to get more than 90% mark in individual subject.
  • Encouraging weak students through counseling to improve their skills atleast 5%.
  • Identifying skills required by staff and arranging suitable training programmes.
  • Feedback analysis and customer satisfaction should be done at regular intervals.
  • Conducting 2 seminars by the student in the class .
  • Encouraging atleast 10 students to participate in intercollegiate symposium(Quiz, Paper presentation).
  • Encouraging 2 guest lectures every year.
  • Encouraging atleast 2 faculties to participate in national workshop conducted in other colleges.
  • Encouraging atleast 10 students for sports, NSS, Rotary club etc.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

PO1Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions
PO5Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO7Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO8Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
PO9Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO10Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO11Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
PO12Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

ENGINEERING PHYSICS LAB:

Engineering Physics-Theory and Practicals-have been prescribed for the I B.Tech curriculum. Engineering Physics Laboratory is well-furnished with adequate equipment. Experiments are related to Optics, Magnetism, Electromagnetism, Semiconductors, Lasers, Synthesis of Nanomaterials and Fiber Optics etc. For conducting Optics experiments a separate dark room is also available with necessary experimental set-up.

ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY LAB:

The Engineering chemistry lab serves to provide strong foundation in chemistry which in turn serves as a baseline for all Engineering streams. Each working table in the laboratory is well furnished with reagent racks & well connected with water supply & Burners. The students conduct their lab assignments under the vigilant guidance and support of faculty & laboratory assistant. The Engineering chemistry laboratory is well equipped with various instruments other than the usual glassware’s & chemicals as per syllabus.

COMMUNICATION ENGLISH SKILLS (CES) LAB:

Communication preponderates and predominate the modern and smart world. It motivates, informs, changes behavior, and establishes better relationships to make interaction meaningful and make oneself understood. As it involves interaction, it encourages exchange of ideas until all the experiences become a common profession. A communication skill in English, the acknowledged global language is a must in the global setting.

The ELCS Lab is air-conditioned & equipped with 80 systems with headsets and LCD projector. The English faculty uses mainly the phonetics and communication Language learning systems in the lab. We have the course material in the form of manual and audio cassettes/CDs. A learner goes through the printed material and then listens to the audio and video.
